We built this review from Rocket Matter's own website, pricing page and subscription agreement, plus our overall reading of public user feedback. Everything was checked October 15, 2026. Prices are vendor claims and change, so confirm with Rocket Matter.

What does Rocket Matter actually do?#
Rocket Matter has served law firms since 2008, per the company, and is part of ProfitSolv. It covers the usual practice management ground (matters, tasks, calendars, contacts, conflict checks, document storage, a client portal, document assembly, matter templates and workflows), but the billing side is where it goes deepest:
- Time and expenses: multiple timers, an auto time card, a desktop time tracker and mobile apps.
- Billing formats: hourly, flat-fee, split billing, batch billing, fee allocation, interest and discounts.
- LEDES and e-billing, the standardized invoice formats that insurers and corporate clients often require.
- Trust accounting: matter-based trust accounts, evergreen retainers (a retainer the client tops back up to a set balance), and automatic transfer from trust to pay invoices.
- Payments: Rocket Matter Pay is included, with card and eCheck/ACH payments (U.S. only) and optional credit card surcharging.
- Business accounting (Elite only): a legal-specific chart of accounts, operating and trust reconciliation, accounts payable and bank feeds. If you use Elite's built-in accounting, the QuickBooks Online integration isn't available.
What this means for you: Elite is meant to replace your separate accounting software. If your bookkeeper loves QuickBooks, Pro or Premier keeps that door open.

Monthly-billed prices for the core plans aren't shown. The same page's FAQ says plans start at $49 per user per month, which doesn't match the $59 Essentials plan card. Confirm with Rocket Matter which number your quote is built on.
Extras to price in:
- E-signatures: a monthly allowance per user that varies by tier (5 or 15 on the comparison table; confirm with Rocket Matter for your tier), then $2 per envelope.
- Legal CRM add-on (Pro and Premier only): Core is $39 per user per month billed annually ($49 monthly). Enterprise is $147 a month billed annually for up to three users, then $49 per extra user ($177 and $59 billed monthly). Both carry a one-time $399 onboarding fee, and the footnote lists a 3-user minimum. Enterprise adds unlimited automations (Core gets two) and charges $500 for data import.
- Website hosting: $149 a month on top of any plan, plus a $599 setup fee.
What are Rocket Matter's contract terms?#
From Rocket Matter's subscription agreement, paraphrased:
- No refunds or pro-rated credits. Cancel an annual subscription a few months in and you don't get back the unused portion. Not using the service doesn't earn a credit either.
- After termination you have to stop using the service right away, and Rocket Matter may delete your data within 180 days. The agreement tells you to back up or remove your data before the paid term ends. Restoring a terminated account may cost extra and isn't guaranteed.
- Terms can change at any time, with notice by posting in the service or by email.
- U.S. only. The service is intended for use within the United States and its territories.
The pricing page's FAQ says you can scale up or throttle down as needed. Read that alongside the no-refund clause: changing plans is possible, getting money back for the rest of a prepaid year isn't.
How hard is Rocket Matter to set up?#
Moderate. Rocket Matter says every plan includes free data migration and training. The real work is billing configuration: rates by timekeeper and matter, trust balances, invoice templates and LEDES codes. Get those right before go-live, because errors in a trust ledger compound over time.
Use the free trial (no credit card, per Rocket Matter) to run one real billing cycle: enter time, generate a pre-bill, send an invoice, take a payment and apply trust. That will tell you more than any demo.
What do users say about Rocket Matter?#
We read public user feedback and looked for patterns.
What users like. The interface, time tracking and invoicing get consistent praise, and support is a frequent bright spot.
What frustrates them. Reporting and customization feel limited to some users, case management can feel clunky next to the billing tools, and some mention occasional slowness. Per-user price comes up too. In comparisons, users who want richer case workflows and a bigger integration ecosystem tend to lean toward the larger platforms.
Buyer tips before you sign#
- Ask for a monthly option or a short first term. The listed prices are annual prepay, and the agreement doesn't refund unused time.
- Match the tier to the CRM and accounting decision. CRM only works on Pro and Premier; Elite's accounting replaces QuickBooks Online sync.
- Document-heavy firms should skip Essentials. It caps storage at 25GB.
- Budget e-signature overage at $2 an envelope if you send more than your allowance.
- Calendar a data export a month before your term ends, every year, whether or not you plan to leave.
Pros and cons#
Pros
- Billing depth: LEDES, evergreen retainers, split and batch billing, auto trust transfer.
- Payments built in, with surcharging.
- Published prices, free migration and a no-card trial.
- Built-in accounting on Elite.
Cons
- Annual prepay with no refunds.
- Data may be deleted within 180 days of termination.
- Add-ons stack up: CRM, onboarding fee, e-signature overage, websites.
- Case management is lighter than the billing side.
How does Rocket Matter compare?#
Clio and MyCase offer broader practice management and larger integration ecosystems, with published prices of their own. PracticePanther is another per-user option aimed at small firms. Rocket Matter's case is billing and trust depth, plus the option to bring accounting in-house on Elite.
Who should use Rocket Matter?#
FAQ#
How much does Rocket Matter cost?#
Essentials $59, Pro $95, Premier $115 and Elite $145 per user per month, paid annually (rocketmatter.com/pricing, vendor claims checked October 15, 2026). The pricing page's FAQ says plans start at $49, which conflicts with the $59 Essentials card, so confirm with Rocket Matter. The CRM add-on, e-signature overage and website hosting are extra.
Does Rocket Matter offer refunds?#
Not under its subscription agreement. Rocket Matter doesn't issue refunds or pro-rated credits, including for the rest of a prepaid annual term.
What happens to my data if I cancel?#
You must stop using the service on termination, and Rocket Matter may delete your data within 180 days. Back up your data before the paid term ends.
Does Rocket Matter have trust accounting?#
Yes. All plans list trust accounting, matter-based trust accounts and automatic trust transfer, and Elite adds full business accounting with trust reconciliation.
Does Rocket Matter integrate with QuickBooks?#
Yes, it lists a QuickBooks Online integration, but not while you're using Elite's built-in business accounting features.
Is any of this sponsored?#
No. If that changes, the listing will be labeled "Sponsored," and payment won't change the verdict.
