We built this review from Lead Docket's own website, features and pricing pages, and the subscription agreement it links to, plus our overall reading of public user feedback. Everything was checked October 15, 2026. Features and terms are vendor claims and change, so confirm with Lead Docket.

What does Lead Docket actually do?#
Lead Docket covers the stretch between "someone called about a car accident" and "signed client in the case management system." From Lead Docket's site:
- Capture: leads arrive from call-tracking numbers, website forms, web chat and answering services, so nothing lives only in someone's inbox.
- Intake scripts: custom forms that walk staff through contact details and the qualifying facts for each case type.
- Follow-up automation: automated messages and recurring tasks for every lead, so a slow Tuesday doesn't cost you a case.
- Referral tracking: chase and record referral fees owed to and from other firms.
- Payments: payment request links for retainers, consultation fees and referral fees, by card or ACH.
- Marketing reporting: revenue by marketing source, conversion rates and similar numbers, which is the part marketing-heavy firms buy it for.
- LeadsAI: AI summaries of the key facts, sentiment analysis of client messages, AI intake timelines, and Lead Viability, which Lead Docket says predicts the likelihood of case success. Treat that score as a triage aid, not a decision.
- Filevine sync: converted leads move into Filevine as a single client record, without retyping.
What this means for you: Lead Docket is a CRM (customer relationship management system) narrowly built for legal intake. It doesn't manage the case after signing; that's your case management system's job.
How much does Lead Docket cost?#
Lead Docket doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page is a form for a custom quote (vendor claim, checked October 15, 2026). Get a written quote.
When you request the quote, ask:
- How seats are priced, and whether non-intake users (a controller, a managing partner who only reads reports, an outside marketing agency) need paid seats. Users report being surprised by this.
- Which LeadsAI features are included and which are add-ons.
- Implementation cost. Lead Docket's linked agreement makes implementation depend on your side doing its part, and setup is often handled by partners. Get a written quote before you sign.
- Payment processing fees for the payment links.
What are Lead Docket's contract terms?#
Lead Docket's site links to a Filevine subscription agreement marked last updated March 16, 2022. Paraphrased:
- Auto-renewal. If your sales order is silent on renewal, subscriptions renew automatically for one-year periods unless either side gives 30 days' written notice before the term ends.
- Fees are non-cancelable and non-refundable, and are based on what you bought, not what you use.
- Implementation delays don't change the term or your payment obligations.
- Invoices are due 10 days after the invoice date.
- Using more than you bought has to be cured by paying the fees that would have applied.
- Data after termination: Filevine doesn't have to keep uploaded files more than 30 days after the agreement ends.
- Support is email and chat during business hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mountain Time on weekdays.
Filevine's own site posts a newer subscription agreement (August 2026) that, among other changes, lets Filevine bill usage overages retroactively at list rates. Ask which version your sales order incorporates.
How hard is Lead Docket to set up?#
Moderate. The software side is mostly configuration: intake scripts per case type, lead sources and tracking numbers, follow-up automations and the Filevine field mapping. The firm side is the real work, since your intake team needs to agree on what a "qualified" lead is before the software can measure it. Users generally describe it as easy to train staff on once it's configured.
What do users say about Lead Docket?#
We read public user feedback and looked for patterns.
What users like. PI firms say it's easy to train on and customizable, and they value lead assignment, source and campaign tracking, and the Filevine integration. Some call it expensive but worth it.
What frustrates them. Cost comes up, as do charges for logins that aren't doing intake, such as finance staff or outside agencies. Some compare support unfavorably with other intake CRMs.
Buyer tips before you sign#
- Price every login type. Negotiate read-only or reporting seats for your controller and marketing vendor up front.
- Confirm which subscription agreement governs: the 2022 version linked from Lead Docket or Filevine's 2026 agreement.
- Put renewal terms in the sales order: no auto-renewal or a clear notice window, plus a cap on increases.
- Co-term with Filevine if you're buying both.
- Calendar a data export before the term ends if you might switch.
Pros and cons#
Pros
- Built for legal intake, with custom scripts per case type.
- Marketing ROI reporting by source.
- Payment links for retainers and referral fees.
- Native Filevine sync.
Cons
- Quote-only pricing.
- One-year auto-renewal by default.
- Non-refundable fees.
- Less compelling if you don't use Filevine.
How does Lead Docket compare?#
Lawmatics is a broader legal CRM with marketing automation and integrations into many practice management systems. Law Ruler is another intake CRM aimed at high-volume firms. Filevine is the case management system Lead Docket is built to feed.
Who should use Lead Docket?#
FAQ#
How much does Lead Docket cost?#
Lead Docket doesn't publish prices; its pricing page asks for a custom quote (vendor claim, checked October 15, 2026). Ask how non-intake users such as a controller or marketing agency are billed.
Who owns Lead Docket?#
Filevine. Lead Docket's site is copyrighted to Filevine, and its subscription agreement is a Filevine agreement.
Do I need Filevine to use Lead Docket?#
No. Lead Docket integrates with case management software generally, but the native sync is with Filevine, and that's where it adds the most value.
Does Lead Docket auto-renew?#
Under the agreement linked from its site, yes: if your sales order is silent, subscriptions renew for one-year periods unless either side gives 30 days' written notice.
What is Lead Viability?#
A LeadsAI feature that Lead Docket says assesses each lead when it opens and predicts its likelihood of success. Use it to prioritize follow-up; a lawyer still decides which cases to take.
Is any of this sponsored?#
No. If that changes, the listing will be labeled "Sponsored," and payment won't change the verdict.
