Docketwise Review (2026): Immigration-Only, Priced in Public, Pro Is the Real Plan

Docketwise is case management built only for immigration: USCIS form filling, priority-date tracking, and multilingual client questionnaires. The useful features live on Pro, annual plans auto-renew without refunds, and a reported data security incident is worth asking about.

Verdict at a glance

Recommended for

Solo and small immigration practices that want form automation, priority-date tracking, and a multilingual client portal in one place.

Bottom line

Most immigration firms want Pro at $100/user/mo billed yearly ($120 monthly), and there's a free trial. Plans auto-renew and paid fees aren't refunded, so pay monthly until you're sure, calendar the renewal date, and ask for the security incident follow-up in writing.

A focused, published-price pick for solo and small immigration practices. Budget Pro, because e-filing, e-signature, texting, and the AI all start there. Read 8am's renewal terms before you prepay, and ask how Docketwise has handled its reported data security incident.

Not for

Multi-practice firms, and firms that want a general practice management system with immigration as one of many areas.

Pricing from

Basic $80/user/month billed yearly ($90 monthly) (docketwise.com/pricing, vendor claims checked 2026-10-15)

Quick answer

Bottom line: Docketwise is for solo and small firms that practice only immigration. Prices are published: Basic $80, Pro $100, Advanced $120 per user per month billed yearly ($90, $120, $140 monthly), with unlimited cases (vendor claims checked October 15, 2026). Most firms should budget Pro. There's a free trial. The trap: subscriptions auto-renew and paid fees aren't refunded, even if you drop users mid-period, so pay monthly until you're sure and calendar the renewal date.

Its core feature is Smart Forms, which fill USCIS forms from a single client questionnaire, alongside priority-date tracking and multilingual intake. E-filing, e-signature, texting, lead management, QuickBooks, and the DocketWise IQ AI all start on Pro. Docketwise is part of 8am (the company behind MyCase and LawPay), whose terms govern the subscription. Docketwise also reported a data security incident; ask what changed.

What does Docketwise actually do?#

  • Smart Forms: a library of immigration forms filled from the answers your client gives once, instead of retyping the same passport number into six petitions.
  • Multilingual intakes and questionnaires you can customize, so clients answer in their own language.
  • Case and priority-date tracking, which matters when a client's place in the visa queue decides the whole timeline.
  • Client portal and document requests, calendaring, time tracking, invoicing, and trust accounting.
  • Unlimited cloud storage and Gmail and Outlook add-ons.

Pro adds e-filing, e-signature, an HR portal for employer clients, CRM and lead management, two-way and bulk texting, a QuickBooks integration, and DocketWise IQ, its AI for writing and document help. Advanced adds multiple branches, permission groups, multiple admins, priority support, tailored setup, a 5 GB file size limit, and free data migration if you pay annually.

What this means for you: Basic is forms and case management. If you e-file, collect signatures, or text clients, and most immigration practices do all three, Pro is your plan. Advanced makes sense for multi-office firms, or for anyone migrating a large book of cases who'd otherwise pay for the move.

Paying monthly costs $10 to $20 more per user per month. That premium buys you an easy exit, which is worth something given the refund terms below.

What are Docketwise's contract and refund terms?#

Docketwise's site links to 8am's terms of service, the same terms that cover MyCase and LawPay.

  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew for the period you chose, monthly or annually, until you cancel.
  • No refunds on paid fees. Dropping users or downgrading partway through a period doesn't earn money back for the rest of it.
  • Price changes need advance written notice and take effect at the next period.
  • Extra fees are possible for AI use above set thresholds, and for unusually high support-ticket volume. The thresholds aren't on the pricing page.

8am's terms for its AI features say inputs and outputs may be used to improve its products. We couldn't confirm that those terms cover DocketWise IQ, so confirm with Docketwise whether they apply and whether you can opt out before you put client files through it. Also ask what the AI-use and support-ticket thresholds are, since they aren't published.

What happened with the Docketwise security incident?#

Docketwise reported a data security incident in breach notifications filed with state regulators in April 2026. In those notices, Docketwise said that in October 2025 it suspected credentials to a third-party partner repository had been accessed. Its forensic investigation found that someone used valid credentials to copy partner repositories, some used in a data migration pipeline, which held law firm records including personal information about the firms' clients. Docketwise said it found no evidence of ongoing unauthorized activity, notified the FBI, and offered affected individuals 24 months of credit monitoring and identity restoration.

For an immigration firm, client data is unusually sensitive. That doesn't rule Docketwise out, but it earns a few questions:

  • What changed in how partner and migration credentials are managed?
  • If you're migrating in, how is your data moved, and who touches it?
  • Will Docketwise share a current independent security report?

How hard is Docketwise to set up?#

Low to moderate. The forms and questionnaires work out of the box, so a solo can be filing within days. The heavier lift is moving existing cases: migration is free only on Advanced with annual billing, so on other plans ask what it costs, or plan to re-enter active matters yourself.

Before you commit, run your three most common case types end to end in the trial: questionnaire, Smart Forms, review, and filing. Check foreign addresses and phone numbers in the generated forms, since that's where form tools tend to trip.

What do users say about Docketwise?#

Users generally praise the interface, the multilingual client questionnaires, and the time Smart Forms save on USCIS forms. Common complaints are forms that occasionally fill incorrectly (including foreign phone numbers hitting character limits), delays in supporting new USCIS form versions, thin invoicing, and frustration over annual renewals that weren't refunded. Test your own case types and invoices in the trial before you prepay.

Pros and cons#

Pros

  • Built only for immigration, with Smart Forms and priority-date tracking.
  • Every price published, unlimited cases.
  • Multilingual client questionnaires on every plan.
  • Free migration on Advanced annual.

Cons

  • Pro is the real starting point for e-filing, e-signature, texting, and AI.
  • Auto-renewal with no refunds on paid fees.
  • Possible extra AI fees above unpublished thresholds.
  • A reported data security incident to ask about.

How does Docketwise compare with MyCase, Clio, and PracticePanther?#

All three are general practice management systems. MyCase shares Docketwise's parent company and terms and suits firms that do immigration alongside other work. Clio has the largest integration marketplace and connects with immigration form tools. PracticePanther has lower published prices but no immigration forms. If immigration is all you do, Docketwise's forms and priority-date tracking are the reason to choose it.
