CaseGuard Review (2026): AI Redaction Across Video, Audio and Documents

CaseGuard Studio redacts faces in video, names in audio and PII in documents on your own machines. The annual price is significant, so match the suite to the media you actually handle.

Verdict at a glance

Recommended for

Any firm, legal department or public office that handles recorded or sensitive media and must redact video, audio and documents before sharing, production or release.

Bottom line

A strong fit for firms and offices that routinely redact video and audio before sharing, production or release. Pick the suite that covers your media, finish projects before cancelling, and price the outsourced service if your volume is low.

On-premise AI redaction for video (faces, plates, screens), audio, images, email (PST, MSG, EML) and documents, with transcription and translation, review before export and audit reports. Doc Suite is $279, Media Suite $299 and Ultimate $379 per user a month, paid annually. CaseGuard also offers an outsourced expert redaction service and a prorated refund on annual licenses, subject to conditions.

Not for

Firms with occasional PDF redactions, where a general PDF editor may be enough.

Pricing from

$279/user/month Doc Suite, paid annually (caseguard.com/redaction-pricing, checked 2026-10-15)

Pros

  • Redacts video, audio, images, email and documents in one tool (caseguard.com)
  • On-premise processing (caseguard.com)
  • Review before export and auto-generated audit reports (caseguard.com/redaction-pricing)
  • Outsourced expert redaction option (caseguard.com)

Cons

  • Annual commitment of roughly $3,350 to $4,550 per user a year
  • Doc Suite doesn't cover video or audio
  • Unfinished projects can't be edited or exported after cancelling
  • Refund eligibility depends on training and usage conditions

Quick answer

Bottom line: CaseGuard is for any firm or office that handles recorded or sensitive media, such as video, audio, scanned records or email, and must hide faces, names or personal details before sharing, producing or releasing it. CaseGuard lists Doc Suite at $279, Media Suite at $299 and Ultimate at $379 per user a month, paid annually, so one user commits to roughly $3,350 to $4,550 a year (vendor claims, checked October 15, 2026). No free trial is listed, so ask for a demo (confirm with CaseGuard). The trap: it's an annual commitment, video and audio need Media or Ultimate, and CaseGuard says unfinished projects can't be edited or exported after you cancel.

What this means for you: if you only redact a few files a year, price CaseGuard's outsourced redaction service before buying a full annual license.

What does CaseGuard actually do?#

  • Video redaction: faces, license plates, screens, notepads and more, in footage such as security camera, body-worn camera and recorded interview video.
  • Audio redaction: names, emails, card details and other spoken personal information (PII, or personally identifiable information), with AI transcription and translation.
  • Documents, images and email: PDFs, scans, Word and Excel files, and PST, MSG and EML email, with unlimited OCR (which turns scanned images into searchable text) and batch processing.
  • Review and audit: edit before export, with auto-generated audit reports.
  • On-premise processing: CaseGuard Studio runs on your own computers rather than in the cloud.
  • On-Demand Expert Redaction Services: CaseGuard's staff redact your files, and your team gives final review and approval.

What this means for you: one tool covers most media types you might need to share or produce, and processing stays on your own machines. That matters for firms, legal departments and public offices handling client recordings, records requests or confidential evidence.

How much does CaseGuard cost?#

From CaseGuard's pricing page (vendor claims, checked October 15, 2026):

Because billing is annual, a single user commits to roughly $3,350 (Doc) to $4,550 (Ultimate) a year.

What are CaseGuard's cancellation and refund terms?#

From CaseGuard's pricing FAQ, paraphrased. Ask for the full software license agreement in writing before you sign (confirm with CaseGuard):

  • Cancel any time, but once you do, you can't edit or export unfinished redaction projects.
  • Prorated refund on annual licenses: 1/12 of the annual fee for each unused month, with partial months rounded up. Cloud AI hours used are deducted at $5 an hour.
  • Non-refundable: offline license keys and fully consumed AI credit allotments.
  • Conditions: CaseGuard says you must show an active effort to deploy the software, have completed training and have worked with your account manager. Requests go to your account manager.

What do users say about CaseGuard?#

Independent feedback is very thin, only a couple of public reviews, so don't read much into it. One user praised the video tracking and the time it saved, while a legal user reported failed document processing and poor service. CaseGuard's own customer stories also acknowledge that people still need to review the output to catch what the AI misses.

Buyer tips before you sign#

  1. Match the suite to your media. Doc Suite won't touch video.
  2. Price the outsourced service if you only redact a few matters a year.
  3. Check hardware requirements for on-premise video AI, such as whether you need a dedicated graphics card (confirm with CaseGuard).
  4. Ask for the software license agreement. Only website terms are public.
  5. Review every redaction before export.

Pros and cons#

Pros

  • Covers every media type.
  • On-premise processing.
  • Audit reports.
  • Outsourced option.

Cons

  • Significant annual commitment.
  • Video needs a higher suite.
  • Unfinished projects lost on cancel.
  • Conditional refunds.

How does CaseGuard compare?#
