Verdict at a glance

Recommended for

Solo and small-firm litigators with recurring, pattern-driven discovery, on either the plaintiff or defense side.

Bottom line

If written discovery eats your associates' weeks, Briefpoint is worth a demo; treat drafts as a fast first pass, check limits and objections against your jurisdiction's rules, and calendar the renewal date.

AI for written discovery: propounding and responding to interrogatories, requests for admission and requests for production, with automatic objections, Bates-cited production sets, supplemental responses and client answer collection in English and Spanish. One all-inclusive plan at $150 per attorney per month, billed annually; it auto-renews unless you give 30 days' notice, fees are non-refundable, and data is generally deleted within 7 days of cancellation.

Not for

Lawyers who handle discovery only occasionally (the plan is annual), and complex matters where tailored objections and strategy dominate.

Pricing from

$150/attorney/month, billed annually ($1,800/year) (briefpoint.ai/pricing, vendor claims checked 2026-10-15)

Pros

  • One flat price per attorney, no per-case fees, unlimited downloads (briefpoint.ai/pricing)
  • Drafts and responds to RFAs, RFPs and interrogatories with automatic objections (briefpoint.ai/pricing)
  • Client file and interrogatory-answer collection with English and Spanish translation (briefpoint.ai/pricing)
  • Bates-cited production sets and supplemental responses (briefpoint.ai/pricing)

Cons

  • Annual billing only (briefpoint.ai/pricing)
  • Auto-renews unless you give 30 days' notice (Briefpoint terms and conditions)
  • Fees are non-refundable except under the warranty remedy (Briefpoint terms and conditions)
  • Data generally deleted within 7 days of cancellation (Briefpoint terms and conditions)

Quick answer

Bottom line: Briefpoint is for solo and small-firm litigators with steady, repeatable written discovery: it drafts interrogatories, requests for admission (RFAs) and requests for production (RFPs), drafts responses with objections, builds Bates-cited production sets and collects client answers in English and Spanish. There's one plan, Rainmaker, at $150 per attorney per month, billed annually only ($1,800 per attorney a year), with no per-case fees (vendor claims, checked October 15, 2026). The pricing page shows no free trial, only a demo. The traps: the subscription auto-renews unless you give notice at least 30 days before the term ends, fees are non-refundable, and your data is generally deleted about 7 days after you cancel, so export everything first.

What does Briefpoint actually do?#

Written discovery is where litigation turns into paperwork: the same objections, the same definitions, the same formatting, case after case. Per Briefpoint's pricing page, the Rainmaker plan includes:

  • Propounding: objection-aware RFAs, RFPs and interrogatories, drafted from your case files.
  • Responding: upload the other side's requests and get draft responses with automatic objections and answers. Bulk uploads handle full case files.
  • Interrogatory answers drafted from your files.
  • RFP responses and production: find responsive documents and serve Bates-cited sets.
  • Supplemental responses to update earlier answers.
  • Client collection: request files and interrogatory answers from clients, with English and Spanish translation.
  • Discovery Playbooks: firm-level rules for how responses should be handled.

Briefpoint says it has SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA-compliant security (vendor claims; ask for the report), and solutions for plaintiff, defense, in-house, insurance and legal aid teams.

What this means for you: Briefpoint handles the first draft and the formatting. The judgment calls (which objections are worth making, what to produce, what's privileged) are still yours.

How much does Briefpoint cost?#

From briefpoint.ai/pricing (vendor claims, checked October 15, 2026):

Briefpoint Rainmaker plan

There's one plan with everything included. The page doesn't show a monthly-billing option or a self-serve free trial; it offers a demo.

What are Briefpoint's contract terms?#

From Briefpoint's terms and conditions, paraphrased:

  • Auto-renewal. Unless your order says otherwise, each subscription term renews automatically unless either side gives notice of non-renewal at least 30 days before it ends.
  • Renewal pricing. Our reading suggests renewals are at Briefpoint's then-current rates, not a prior-term discount. Confirm with Briefpoint and get renewal pricing in the order form.
  • No refunds, except under the warranty remedy: if a service doesn't conform and Briefpoint doesn't fix it within 30 days of your claim, either side can terminate that service and you get prepaid unused fees back.
  • Late payments carry 1.5% a month.
  • Data after cancellation. Briefpoint has no obligation to keep your inputs or outputs after the agreement ends, and generally deletes customer data automatically within 7 days of cancellation. If you need more time to download, request a stay of deletion in writing to Briefpoint support.

How hard is Briefpoint to set up?#

Low. It's browser-based and exports drafts to Word. The real setup is building your Discovery Playbooks so drafts match your firm's positions and your jurisdiction's rules.

What do users say about Briefpoint?#

We read public user feedback and looked for patterns.

What users like. Speed on routine sets, drafts that mirror request numbering and formatting, and real time savings on simple matters.

What frustrates them. Objections can be generic and untailored, some sets include redundant requests, and drafts don't always respect local limits, such as caps on the number of interrogatories. Uploaded documents aren't screened for privilege. Users consistently say every draft needs attorney review for facts, citations, privilege and local rules.

A lawyer signs every discovery response. ABA Formal Opinion 512 covers verifying AI output and protecting client confidences when using tools like this.

Buyer tips before you sign#

  1. Calendar the 30-day non-renewal window, and ask for renewal pricing in writing.
  2. Set your jurisdiction's numerical limits and local rules in your playbooks.
  3. Run a separate privilege review on anything you upload or produce.
  4. Add a redundancy check to your review routine.
  5. Export before cancelling, or request a deletion stay in writing.

Pros and cons#

Pros

  • Flat per-attorney price, no per-case fees.
  • Covers the full written-discovery cycle, from requests to supplemental responses.
  • Client collection with Spanish translation.
  • Bates-cited production sets.

Cons

  • Annual only.
  • Auto-renews with a 30-day notice window.
  • Non-refundable fees.
  • Seven-day data deletion after cancellation.

How does Briefpoint compare?#

Paxton and CoCounsel are general legal AI assistants that can draft discovery among many other tasks. Gavel is document automation you build yourself from templates. Briefpoint's edge is focus: it's built only for written discovery, and priced like it.
